Introducing "BUILD-A-BOAT ART"

As a new initiative from Build-A-Boat plans, we now offer the classic line drawings of some of our older designs as Fine Art Prints. A great gift for the nautically inclined, or anyone who appreciates the marriage of science and art which spawns a thing of beauty. These diagrams would originally have been produced as blueprints for the boat-builder, from plans drawn on linen, but we are now able to offer them in several styles and sizes to suit most décors. Most designs are sets of 2 complementary drawings showing overall views, cutaways and some construction details. Each print has been designed to stand individually or in combination with any of the others.

Nearly all our Build-A-Boat Art designs come from the drawing board of Victor W. Roe, who lived and worked in the Sydney beach side suburb of Queenscliff for many years. Victor was from the ‘old guard’ who knew how to design traditional timber vessels, and it is this charm, knowledge and style we are bringing back either in their original blue print form, or on parchment. Victor wrote many articles about traditional timber boat building describing particular designs. These appeared in magazines such as “Australian Boating” & “Power Boat & Yachting” during the 50s & 60s. Although Victor’s many designs included Charter-Fishing boats, Houseboats & Runabouts, etc., we have limited this first selection to some of his elegant Launches, Cruisers and the occasional Sailing vessel.

Printed on acid free heavy paper using archival inks, prints come ready to frame. Sizes are A4, A3 and A2. Styles are Parchment or Blueprint. Delivered by post, in a protective tube.
